With a wealth of experience working as an operative and in a number of senior management roles, I am well placed to understand the full lifecycle of construction projects, having worked both on and off sites for a number of years.

In my role as Construction Director, I use my personal experience to ensure the successful and efficient delivery of multiple projects across the North West. Accountable for all our frontline services, I am passionate about ensuring everything we do is safe and maintains the highest levels of operational performance possible. At its core, HMS is a customer service company and I make sure these values are at the heart of our day-to-day operations so people can life safely, comfortably and happily in our homes for many years.

Beginning my career in the sector as an Apprentice, I now have over 25 years experience. I have worked as a Quantity Surveyor for a Contractor and moved between various senior management roles before taking on my role as Managing Director for HMS in 2011.

My varied experience has enabled me to lead HMS through multiple internal and external challenges to become the fastest growing contractor in the North West. The driving force behind my desire for growing HMS and expanding its operational footprint is investing in our communities and increasing peoples’ access to opportunities.

This commitment is also reflected in the HMS business model, which sees us invest 100% of our commercial profits into local causes and Torus Foundation and I and the whole team work hard to ensure the people who live and work in our communities benefit positively from everything we do.

Since graduating from Northumbria University in 1992 with a degree in Quantity Surveying, I have worked in a number of roles across the housing sector – from construction to Facilities Management, Civil Engineering to Refurbishment – my experience is varied and fits in with different challenges each day presents in my current role as Commercial Director.

I decided to specialise in social housing in recent years and my understanding of the housing landscape has helped me contribute to the growth and expansion of HMS. I am passionate about supporting the organisation’s development and have been integral to the diversification of the organisation into new markets and partnerships, through restructuring the business to allow HMS and the team to realise its full potential.

Inspired by my mother’s work in supported living homes, I have worked in the housing sector since the age of 16, when I did a work placement at a local Housing Association. After graduating from Bristol University with a degree in Housing Management and Development, I have undertaken a variety of roles in both public and private organisations amassing 30 years’ experience in the sector.

My passion for housing has seen me contribute to a number of transformational projects and support vulnerable customers with often complex needs, ensuring their homes were safe and secure. With experience orchestrating operational projects and managing contractual, commercial, strategic and regulatory schemes, I am committed to working closely with the rest of Team HMS, in my role as Maintenance Director, to ensure we continue to be a contractor of choice in the North West.

I am a Contracts Manager within the Senior Operations Team at HMS and my key responsibilities cover leading a Team of Site Managers delivering Planned and Capital Investment works such as Kitchens, Bathrooms, windows and doors, Central Heating and Electrical rewires within the Torus Group.

In addition, I am involved in the delivery of some key external Clients such as Merseyside Police and Steve Biko. My role is to deliver programmed works on time, to a high standard and to a financial budget, ultimately assisting HMS to continue to be a competitive commercial entity in the market place.

I am an Electrical Principal Duty Holder and Qualifying Supervisor and my experience covers construction, refurbishment, social housing and Energy efficiency (solar PV).

I am part of the Senior Management Team responsible for Business Compliance, Quality Assurance, Performance and Risk Management for the business. My objective is to lead the business on Quality Control and intuitive corrective action learning to deliver efficient business processes. I also ensure we provide a structured performance management framework through automated performance reporting providing productivity and utilisation reporting to the operational teams.

Myself and the team are also responsible for subcontractor compliance, Fleet, Plant and Waste services and documented business processes, robust document management system and procedures that dovetail our ISO standards.

I have worked in the construction sector for the last 12 years working for both private and public sectors enabling me to gain knowledge and experience of the industry. I hold a degree in Business Management with Hons; my dissertation focused on flexible working in construction demonstrating and testing my knowledge of the changing environment within the construction industry which received a 1st. I hold an ISO:9001 Internal Audit certificate, have undertaken project management and Prince 2 Methodology training and hold a Level 3 ILM in Leadership & Management.

I am part of the Senior Management Team, with a responsibility for Business Development. My focus is on external growth with Commercial and Public Sector organisations and Housing Associations, targeting Construction, Refurbishment, and Service Contracts.

I have a number of years’ experience within Business Development for a diverse range of construction related companies in various sectors, including Civil Engineering, Industrial Services, and Main Contracting.

I am part of the Senior Operations Team at HMS and am responsible for delivering the Environmental Services contracts which encompasses Cleaning and Grounds Maintenance across Liverpool, Warrington and St Helens and ensuring contractual compliance.

I have more than 35 years’ experience across all aspects of the housing sector and have delivered Voids, Cyclical Maintenance and Kitchen and Bathroom projects during my time at HMS.

My current role at HMS is Warehouse and Supply Chain Manager.

I have worked in the industry for 35 years, staring my career as a stock controller. I gained experience in construction completing my HNC in construction.

During my employment, I have held various Senior Management positions ranging from Contracts Manager, Plant, Transport and Business Risk Manager and have managed the mobilisation of key contracts. My roles within HMS have always focused on developing or improving capacity to ensure best practice and efficiency gains as a key deliverable. HMS warehouse is accountable for ensuring economic order quantities are achieved with optimum stock movement.

My role in leading the HMS Adaptations Team is to enable us deliver a professional all-inclusive, high quality and tailored service to our clients and customers, capable of supporting all stages of the adaptation process. We take pride in our ability to meet the complex needs of some of the most vulnerable client groups and in supporting their ability to not only remain in their homes but also make the best possible use of their home.

I have worked in the social housing sector for the majority of my 26 year career for both in-house and commercial contractors across the North of England in both Contractor and Client roles. Having worked in several organisations during this time, I am able to draw on both positive and challenging experiences to ensure we offer the best value for money service. A substantial proportion of my work stream is delivering services for clients outside of the Torus Group, which not only provides us a great opportunity to develop partnerships with like-minded organisations, but also benefits from economies of scale in provided service across the entire region.

My Role as M+E Contract Manager for HMS is to ensure that compliance is managed and maintained for our clients effectively and efficiently with a highly skilled team all the while adhering to all H&S legislation and regulations.

I have worked in the sector for 35 years, starting my career as an apprentice plumber/gas engineer. I then progressed through the many stages of management from supervisor roles onto Management. I was able to progress as the business grew from a local council housing provider to a housing association and have been successful in bringing gas contract’s in-house as the housing associations came together. The amalgamation of the Torus Group will give HMS opportunities to extend our offer and to share our skills, experience and expertise with other clients.

My current role forms part of the Senior Management Team at HMS, delivering a comprehensive Repairs and Maintenance Service to circa 38,000 domestic properties and commercial buildings for multiple Clients across the North West.

My key responsibilities are to ensure the professional delivery of a first class Repairs and Maintenance service, inclusive of Compliance and Refurbishment to all of our Clients and Customers, maintaining the highest levels of performance, efficiency and customer satisfaction, ensuring contractual KPI’s and Business Plan targets exceed expectation.

In addition, through a strategic approach, I lead on multiple projects to develop Business Process and Commercial Acumen with a coaching mentality across HMS. This has been instrumental in the successful delivery of the service HMS provides to our Clients, with the implementation of change management and supporting teams through new initiatives and cultural change.

I have 31 years’ experience in the sector both private and public; 25 years’ in Management with 19 years in Senior and Executive Management positions across Construction, Repair’s & Maintenance / Refurbishment, M&E projects and Consultancy Project Management. This experience has enabled me to improve the profile of various organisations, through efficiency, performance, profitability and customer experience.

I am part of the Contract Management Team at HMS and I am responsible for the management, planning, programming and delivery of all Cyclical and External Planned Projects.

I have over 30 years’ experience of working in the social housing and local authority sector delivering a wide range of projects covering Refurbishment and Maintenance activities. One of my key drivers is to ensure that teams are well led, highly motivated, understand their purpose and contribute to the success of HMS.

I proactively manage Health and Safety to ensure compliance so that operational staff and subcontractors operate in a safe and controlled environment. My management style supports the company’s vision of creating a special place to work. I am friendly and supportive, open, fair and challenging.
