Opening the Door to his Future – Adam's Story

Figuring out your career path is difficult and something Adam struggled with after returning home from travelling.

“When I got back from travelling, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, but I knew I wanted to learn something and go into a career that offered me opportunities to progress and become fully qualified in a trade, so when I heard about HMS apprenticeships, I thought ‘this is it’.”

Applying to HMS’ apprenticeship programme after completing a 2-year stint in the HMS Warehouse, Adam had a great insight into how HMS worked and what the company could offer him.

“I knew how much HMS invested in its employees and saw the apprenticeships as an opportunity to build a career for myself.”

Currently in the first year of his apprenticeship, Adam is working with the Responsive Repairs team and enjoying his apprenticeship: “There’s a lot more to it than I realised, but I’m really enjoying learning all parts of the job and working towards something.

“I like that I started my apprenticeship at a company I worked in because I already knew the team and it felt easier to move from the Warehouse to my Apprenticeship. Everyone has been really supportive of my move and I’m looking forward to learning even more and seeing where this qualification can take me!”
