Lynn didn’t think an apprenticeship was for her but applied to HMS Joiner Apprenticeship after seeing it advertised on Facebook. Now, she is well into her apprenticeship and enjoying learning a variety of skills – both in and out of the classroom.
“After taking a career break of 11 years to raise my children, I was ready for a new challenge and after seeing the advert on Facebook, I just applied. I never thought it would be for me or would go any further, but I was invited to the interview and was offered one of the Apprenticeship vacancies!
“I really love getting up each morning and that I’m given the opportunity to get involved with everything from fitting kitchens to plumbing – the role is so varied and I’m learning lots of skills.
“Apprenticeships are fantastic and I would recommend them to anyone!”
Since starting her apprenticeship with HMS, Lynn has been involved with a variety of projects and has impressed her manager, Michael, with her enthusiasm, positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Michael said: “As an organisation, it is vital that we continue to attract Apprentices’ like Lynn so we can continue to invest in the future of our industry and train new tradespeople.
“I personally really enjoy working with our Apprentices’ and seeing how they develop into confident and skilled members of the team – it really is an investment in their future as well as HMS’.”
