  • Building myself a future – Jamie’s story

  • Electrician Apprentice

Posted: 07 March 2018

Jamie is seven months into a three year an Electrician Apprentice role and is already seeing a difference in his confidence which is continually growing.

Jamie explains, “I never thought I would enjoy the role as much as I am. The practical tasks of working with sockets, light fittings, switches and being involved with testing has given me an understanding of what is expected of me in the workplace.

“My knowledge and skills are improving daily and that is partly down to my mentor, John, who is taking the time to demonstrate how to do things right first time for customers.”

John, Electrician said, “The apprentice roles are not just an easy option, they require dedication and a willingness to learn as part of a team. Jamie is showing these qualities and it’s been valuable also for me to help share my skills and experience.”

“As well as being part of the team, adds Jamie. I regularly meet some of the customers we are working for so it’s a reminder to do the best we can for them.

“If someone reading this is considering an apprenticeship, I would recommend they apply as it has opened up new opportunities for me and it is providing a foundation for my future.”
