HMS is a commercial organisation with a social purpose. As an ethical business, we’re always working to give back to the communities in which we work. That’s why all commercial profits are reinvested into local employment initiatives and meaningful social projects.
Last year, we donated £2m in gift aid to Torus Foundation.
This contribution helps us to provide key services, support community activities and improve neighbourhoods. The approach sets us apart from many other companies and drives our reputation for socially responsible service excellence.
Creating Local Employment Opportunities
We are proud to be a key contributor to employment strategies and initiatives in the Liverpool City Region.
Working in partnership with Liverpool Mutual In Work and The Prince’s Trust, we have successfully placed and employed staff from areas of high unemployment, poor skills and low incomes.
We are committed to employing local labour from within the North West, which has a lasting benefit for the region.
HMS recruits craft apprentices annually to develop and train people into highly skilled tradespeople. We currently employ a number of apprentices, all from the Liverpool City Region and specifically from areas where we are working.
For the past two years HMS has been a principle sponsor of the ‘Liverpool Apprentice of the Year’ for the Liverpool City Region, which promotes the positive benefits of apprenticeships.
We are committed to charitable giving and engage with and sponsor community events.
As part of our strategy, we donate £1 to charity for every compliment we receive. This financial year we received over 1,500 compliments. Charities are nominated and voted for annually by staff.
