Improving fire safety

HMS, a leading specialist contractor in the North West has recently worked with their supplier of smoke & heat alarms AICO, (a market leader in fire protection), to ensure improved fire safety in over 3,000 homes per annum, on a 5-year project, as part of the Electrical Testing Programme.

A new product has been launched by AICO of a combined CO and Heat Detection along with a new range of fire detection, AICO’s 3000 series.Over 30 electricians and client representatives received training from AICO, via AICO’s mobile training unit at HMS head office, detailing the correct installation andmanagement of AICO’s latest model.

The new 3000 series alarm system can be accessed by trained staff from outside the property via a remote portal such as a mobile phone, Ipad or laptop. The system provides comprehensive information including the number of times the alarm has been activated, when it needs testing or replacing and if there’s a fault. As a result, staff will no longer need to access the property to know whether or not the alarm is functioning ensuring any issues are managed quickly and effectively.

16,000 homes in total are expected to be fitted with the multi detector as part of a 5 year project.

Contract Manager, Tony Daly explained;“The new alarm system will make managing fire safety within our domestic properties more efficient. This training further evidences the group’s commitment for improving fire safety within our homes and improving the knowledge base of our employees.”
