HMS holds ISO14001 accreditation for the Environmental Management Standard.

We all have a responsibility to care for and protect the environment in which we operate. That’s why we strive to achieve continuous improvements in environmental performance and why we encourage partners and communities to join the effort to work sustainably. We also comply with all relevant legislation and regulations.

The Green Initiatives for Tomorrow (GIFT) initiative covers key environmental impacts in the areas of:

  • Energy efficiency
  • Waste generation
  • Emissions to air/water
  • Water usage
  • Transport
  • Procurement

We will strive to:

  • Adopt the highest environmental standards across the operation – meeting and exceeding relevant legislative requirements
  • Assess our organisational activities and identify where impacts can be minimised
  • Minimise waste through careful and efficient use of materials and energy
  • Purchase sustainable products wherever feasible (e.g. recycled, FSC or low environmental impact products and renewable energy)
  • Promote environmental responsibility internally and externally
  • Train employees in good environmental practice and encourage involvement in environmental action
  • Reduce risks from environmental, health or safety hazards for employees and others in areas where we operate
  • Adopt an environmentally sound transport policy
  • Include environmental and ethical considerations in investment decisions, where relevant
  • Assist in developing environmental solutions
  • Continually assess the environmental impact of all our operations
